Biography
AnDréa Lené James now lives in the west Chicago suburbs with her husband,
Rev. Aaron James and two children, Isaiah and Adela. She recently moved from
Des Moines, Iowa where she was involved in many different aspects of music.
She was a voice and piano teacher at Rieman Music in Urbandale and the director
of the choir, Schola Cantorum, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Previously, while in
New Haven, Connecticut, she was an adjunct professor at
Naugatuck Valley Community College, where she taught private voice and piano,
as well as founding an Opera program in 2005. She taught the Opera Ensemble class
and was the faculty advisor to the Opera Society. She was also an active soloist with
the NVCC and in churches throughout Connecticut, studying with Valerie Sorel.
She graduated from Augustana College (Rock Island, IL) in 2004 with Bachelors Degrees in Vocal Performance
and German. While attending Augustana she had the privilege of studying with Dr. John Pfautz, Dr. Jon Hurty
and Dr. Daniel Culver. She has traveled the U.S. and Europe as a soloist and member of the Augustana Choir. She
has sung title roles in Die Fledermaus, Pirates of Penzance, Sour Angelica, Beauty and the Beast, and Barnum’s Bird.
While studying at the Universität Passau in Passau, Germany, she sang chorus roles in productions of Madama
Butterfly, Die Lustige Witwe, and Der Rosenkavalier in the Südostbayerisches Städtetheater.
Throughout her life she has sung in numerous churches as a choir member and cantor, and has accompanied as
well. She has sung many weddings and funerals, and has been involved in a few other projects, such as the
Christian group, Skye High, with whom she recorded in 2000, and singing back-up for Kenny Loggins in
